The new Minister of Labor, Pension System, Family and Social Policy will be Alen Ružić

Minister of Labor, Pension System, Family and Social Policy Marin Piletić is leaving the Government. He will be replaced by Alen Ružić, the current director of KBC Rijeka.

Marin Piletić took office as Minister on 29 April 2022, succeeding Josip Aladrović. He has therefore spent just under four years in the position of Minister, and his dismissal comes after the Administrative Court in Zagreb issued a decision regarding the right of heirs of deceased persons with disabilities or severe chronic illnesses to unpaid amounts of inclusive allowance.

The Administrative Court ruled that procedures for inclusive allowance should not be automatically suspended upon the death of the applicant and that heirs have the right to request payment of unpaid amounts if it is determined that the right existed. Despite this decision, the Ministry of Labor, contrary to the expectations of part of the public, filed an appeal.

It is expected that the new Minister Ružić will have to urgently address the issue of amending implementing regulations, speeding up procedures and clearly defining the rights of heirs, especially in light of court rulings that could have far-reaching financial and political consequences for the state.

The inclusive supplement remains one of the most sensitive social policy issues that the new Ministry administration will have to confront immediately.
