Google is using its advanced artificial intelligence technology to give its dominant search engine a whole new perspective on users’ lives, with the goal of providing answers that are precisely tailored to their interests, habits, travel plans and personal photo archives. The new feature will give millions of people the ability to opt into a recently introduced tool called “Personal Intelligence” within the AI mode that has been present on Google’s search engine since last year. The technology will first be offered in the United States to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as an experimental option within the Labs section for all users with a personal Google Account.

If enabled, the new feature will connect Google’s AI-powered approach to Gmail and Google Photos, allowing the technology to learn about each user’s life and deliver more relevant answers tailored to their personal tastes, the media reported.

Enabling this option will require users to trust Google’s search engine to protect the details of their lives it feeds them. However, millions of people have been doing this implicitly for decades, entering sometimes very intimate queries into the search engine or sharing personal information within Gmail and the Photos app.
