After winning the gold medal of EcoVadis, the leading international sustainability evaluation platform, in June of this year, and ranking among the 5% of the best-rated companies in the world according to global indicators of business sustainability, Valamar further strengthened its position as an ESG leader with this rating.
“Such a high ESG rating from the Croatian Chamber of Economy is another confirmation of Valamar‘s achievements in the area of sustainability and investments in green construction, local communities, quality jobs and high-value tourism, which we continue to work on,” said Tea Pestotnik Prebeg, Director of the Quality and Sustainability Sector at Valamar.
Sustainability at Valamar is visible in all aspects of its business, from energy efficiency to support for local producers. In 2024, 100% of electricity and 75% of total energy were purchased from renewable sources, and photovoltaic power plants have been installed at 36 Valamar facilities so far. Valamar takes care of more than 80,000 trees, and every year, with the active involvement of guests, it plants thousands of new ones. With a focus on localizing the supply chain, the share of food and beverages from domestic producers at Valamar last year was 78%. For the eighth year in a row, Valamar has been declared the most desirable employer in tourism and hospitality in Croatia.
