Organized by the gastronomic association Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Croatia and the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb, an unforgettable Gala Dinner was held, which, with top-notch gastronomy and carefully selected wine accompaniment, provided guests with a unique and memorable experience.
At the center of the culinary spectacle was James Knappett, chef of the London restaurant Kitchen Table, which proudly bears two Michelin stars. Knappett prepared an eight-course culinary journey for the guests of this gala dinner, where each plate was a perfect symphony of flavors, textures and artistic expression. With impeccable precision, Chef Knappett, together with his team of chefs and Esplanade’s chef Ana Grgić Tomić and her extraordinary team of sous chefs, transformed the finest seasonal local ingredients into enchanting culinary masterpieces — each dish told its own story.
This unique gastronomic journey was complemented by a carefully designed wine pairing masterfully executed by Mario Bednjanec, the renowned head sommelier of the famous London restaurant Gymkhana**, which also proudly bears two Michelin stars. The dishes were accompanied by wines from top Croatian winemakers.
In the elegant ambience of the Zinfandel’s restaurant, the gathered guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a unique culinary magic. The gala evening was not only a celebration of 100 years of the Esplanade, but also an ode to the effort, tradition and gourmet innovation that make up the spirit of this hotel.
With this gala evening, Esplanade showed that creativity, hospitality and excellence in hospitality are timeless values that continue to delight generations. This event will remain inscribed as one of the great chapters in the rich history of the hotel.
