The birthday of King Charles III was celebrated at the residence of the British ambassador

Traditionally, in June, the residence of the British ambassador in Zagreb is the place where a large number of guests gather to celebrate the sovereign’s birthday as well as the friendly relations between Croatia and UK. This June 11, this was also the farewell party for  Ambassador Simon Thomas, who is being succeeded in this position by Mr. Javed Patel.

The celebration, which has become a tradition, was attended by around 350 people from the spheres of politics, business, science, culture, as well as representatives of other embassies in the Republic of Croatia. The President of the Republic of Croatia was represented by his foreign policy advisor, Neven Pelicarić, the Government by state advisors Frano Matušić (foreign affairs) and Nevenka Đurić (internal affairs).

The Mayor of Zagreb Tomilsav Tomašević, the Mayor of Samobor Petra Škrobot, politicians Marije Selak Raspudić and Ivana Kekin. From the business world, the celebration was attended by Davor Runje and Hajdi Cenan, owners of a Croatian AI startup; Marijana Šarolić Robić, a lawyer and passionate supporter of the AI ​​community in the Republic of Croatia; Milena Prodanić Tišma founder of the “Vedri obzori” school and COBIS Co-Opted Board member, Boban Spasojević, publisher of Diplomacy&Commerce magazine.

British companies operating in Croatia, as well as Croatian companies operating in the UK, and the Museum of Illusions – an export product of Croatia that is opening its branches in the UK. The King’s birthday is always celebrated, and every time we remember 2016, when the current King and Queen visited Croatia (Zagreb, Osijek, Kopački rit and Đakovo), which is why many people in Croatia remember him. The King was still the Prince of Wales at the time.

King Charles III was born on 14th November 1948, making him 77 years old this year. But it is celebrated every June, and the reason is the great British weather!
